Linking Services to Products

Modified on Mon, 27 Apr at 8:59 PM

BookingItNow works by matching a Shopify product purchase to a service in your scheduling platform. This article explains how to set that up.

How the link works

When a customer buys a product that's linked to a service, and that order is fulfilled, BookingItNow automatically triggers the booking workflow for that service. Without a link, BookingItNow won't act on the order.

Linking a service to a product

  1. In BookingItNow, go to Services
  2. Click on the service you want to link
  3. Click Link Shopify product
  4. Search for the product by name and select it
  5. Click Save

That's it. The next time that product is fulfilled, BookingItNow handles the booking.

Linking to a specific variant

If your product has variants (e.g. "30-min session" and "60-min session"), you can link a service to one specific variant rather than the whole product.

  1. Open the service
  2. Click Link Shopify product
  3. Select the product, then select the specific variant
  4. Click Save

This lets you map different session lengths or service tiers to different services in your scheduling platform.

One product, one service

Each Shopify product (or variant) should be linked to one service. If the same product is linked to multiple services, BookingItNow uses the first active match.

Unlinking a product

  1. Open the service
  2. Click Remove link next to the linked product
  3. Click Save

Orders for that product will no longer trigger a booking workflow.

Deactivating a service

If you want to temporarily stop BookingItNow from sending booking links for a service without removing the product link, toggle the service to Inactive. You can reactivate it at any time.

Tips

  • Make sure your Shopify product name clearly describes the service — customers see this name in their booking email
  • For Jobber users: set the work type (Request, Job, or Assessment) on each service before linking
  • For Cal.com users with session packs: set Links per unit before your first sale goes through
